Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the amount of calories that your body needs to perform basic functions whilst at complete rest. Your body then uses additional calories based on the amount of activity you do.

The Miffin-St Jeor calculation (or equation) calculates your basal metabolic rate (BMR) based on an esimated average. It then uses an activity activity index to calculate the number of calories you need to maintain your current body weight. The results are based on an estimated average.

Recommended healthy weight loss is between 1lb to 2 lbs per week. The equation uses 1lb of body fat is equal to 3500Kcal.
